The Double Zero story

Zedd is the creator of Double Zero. As a writer, producer, and mixer, Zedd knows what needs to get done to make sure the sound is perfect: powerful beats and the highest resolution. After many trips from Los Angeles to Tokyo, he and a team of engineers have honed the system to carry that sound.

ZEDD's interview about Double Zero

Why make another set of headphones?

I travel for a living. I work on the go. I can't always have my speakers with me—I rely on real and great-sounding headphones when I'm not in the studio. If I need to finish a master, having headphones I can trust is crucial.

When I first saw the transforming headphones I thought they looked more like a toy than a functioning product. Then I tried them out and couldn't believe the sound. I wanted to make something that good and it made sense to work together.

Because the people at Good Smile Company are perfectionists. Every detail matters. Quality matters. I have the same mindset. Double Zero is the shape of our headphone pads. It's the two “DD”s in Zedd. We worked on these for a long time, tweaking the shape, the cable, the carrying bag, the right angle in the curves, the matte finish. The headphones have to look good. But they have to sound better.

Double Zero is designed by Zedd in collaboration with Onkyo engineers to create a sound experience ideal for experiencing all genres of music.

Double Zero 001 headphones are light, silk-touch textured, and engineered by sound system manufacturer Onkyo for a comfortable fit and real, precise sound. They look good and sound even better.

Grammy award-winning music artist and producer ZEDD

Multi-platinum, GRAMMY award-winning artist/DJ/producer Zedd made his debut with Clarity after signing with Interscope in 2012 and has been breaking down barriers surrounding music genres ever since. Most recently, Zedd teamed up with Alessia Cara to record “Stay,” a track with over 3 million daily Spotify streams, and single-handedly organized WELCOME!, an ACLU fundraising concert with a lineup that spans the music spectrum. As an immigrant himself, born in Russia and raised in Germany, the concert was born out of Zedd's desire to stand up for basic human rights and 100% of its profits benefit the ACLU. Throughout his career, Zedd has worked with a diverse range of artists, including Foxes on “Clarity,” which soared to No.2 on Top 40 and sold 2.6 million copies, and Hayley Williams on Platinum hit “Stay The Night,” which racked up more than 400 million streams. In 2015, Zedd released True Colors, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, No. 1 on the Dance/Electronic Albums chart, and earned Zedd a 2016 Billboard Music Award for “Best Dance Album.” Its lead single “I Want You to Know” (ft. Selena Gomez) spent four weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart and has been certified Platinum, while second single, “Beautiful Now” (feat. Jon Bellion), has been certified Gold. In 2016, Zedd teamed up with Aloe Blacc on “Candyman” to kick off M&M's 75th anniversary celebration and released smash hit “Starving” featuring Hailee Steinfeld and Grey, which soared to top 10 on Top 40 radio and amassed over 240 million plays on Spotify alone in just four months.

Sound quality of Onkyo

The most vital component for headphone sound, the sound driver, was developed by top Japanese sound system manufacturer ONKYO, established since 1946. Its newly developed 40mm carbon paper driver and proficient sound mechanism design was critical in creating the desired quality of sound.

Accurate rendering of high frequencies and purified low-frequencies delivers pristine sound quality across any genre. The 10Hz - 80kHz sound frequency spectrum guarantees immaculate playback.

40mm carbon paper sound driver cancels disruptive vibrations for the best sound delivery during any activity, anywhere.

99.9 percent high-purity copper OFC wires eliminate transmission delays and are intricately woven for maximum durability. The direct cable connection delivers absolute stability and can be connected on the left or right side of the headphone.

Sound is complex. Design should be pure. Comfort should be effortless.
